November Favorites

Oh my goodness, can you believe November is gone! Honestly this year has been flying by so fast. I was going to use Beauty Sets to help me make a pretty little page for my favorites this month, but I couldn't get it to look the way I wanted it too. I only have a handful of favorites this month, I pretty much stuck to the same makeup routine this entire month.

First up I have my Model Co Shine Ultra Lip Gloss in Showgirl Red. By far my most favorite lip gloss. I received this in my November Birchbox and I have been using it all the time! I really like it because it's not sticky, last a really long time and gives me just the right amount of color.
Next I have another product that I received in my November Birchbox. I had mixed feelings about this one to start with, and I still kind of do (review coming soon) it is my Sumita Contrast Eye Pencil in black. I love using this to tight line my eyes.
My next favorite is something that I've had for a while, but I'm still loving it. I-Envy mascara by Kiss has been my go to mascara this month. I really like this one because it's a 'tube' mascara, you know the kind that form little 'tubes' around your lashes. It wears so good, but is also super easy to take off.
My favorite for my eye shadow this month is my Comfort Zone palette by Wet N Wild. I love this palette because you can create a lot of different looks with it or pick out one shadow to wear all over the lid. It's my go to when I'm in a hurry to get ready.
For my foundation this month, and for the last few months actually, has been Cover Girl CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer in Light to Medium. I really like this product, it feels super light on my skin and gives me just a hint of coverage.
My hair favorite this month was something that I received in my Influenster VoxBox, Not Your Mothers Smooth Moves. I have used this on my hair practically everyday since I got it. It is great for smoothing out my hair so I have less frizz and it also relaxes my curls.

What were your favorite things from this month? I love to hear about other favorites, good way to get product recommendations :)

Try it Again Tuesday

When I originally started this series, if you want to call it that, the idea I had in my head was makeup products that I have tried and then kind of forgot about them and then rediscovered them. Then today as I was doing my nails, I thought this could go for looks that I've tried, but they didn't come of quite the way I wanted them too.

So with that being said, today's try it again Tuesday is milky glitter nails! I tired this last week, but I didn't have the right kind of milky polish to pull this look off, so I picked up a bottle of Wet n Wild's Megalast polish in 2% and here is the look I got with my second attempt.

I first applied two coats of 2%, one coat was just too sheer for me since it was my base color. I then used a makeup sponge to apply my glitter polish, which was Trust Fund Baby by Spoiled. Then I added 2 more layers of 2%, one coat didn't make it look milky enough in my opinion. I am much more satisfied with the results this time.

Nail Of the Week

This is the last Nail of the Week post for November! Next month I'm going to move them to Mondays and call it Mani Monday.

So this week I went super light with my nail color. Nouveau Cheap had a post about milky glitters in the drug store, but that you can make your own at home. She has a picture up of her DIY milky glitters and I really wanted to give it a try so I used what I had at home. I use Pink Pearl by L.A Colors for my base color, I think I may have put 2 coats. Then I used a glittery polish that I got in a Wet N Wild mini set last Black Friday, it does not have a name. I topped the glitter with a thin coat of the Pink Pearl. I like how it came out, but I think I would rather use a different milky looking polish. Nouveau Cheap recommended Wet n Wilds Megalast polish in 2%, I may go pick that up and give this milky glitter manicure another try.

What did you wear on your nails this week?

Confessions of a Beauty Blogger

Seen this tag on Aly's blog, Wonderland Beauty, and I thought it looked like fun. I tag all of you to this too, if you would like too.

1. How many hours a week do you spend writing/editing posts?
A lot, too much probably Lol! On weekends that my Husband has to work, I spend several hours on Saturday writing reviews, taking photos, editing photos and other blog stuff. During the week I would say I spend around 1 hour everyday.

2. Are you a spender or a saver?
Honestly, a spender. I try very hard to be a saver, but it doesn't last long.

3. When is it easiest for you to blog?
During the day when my Husband is at work.

4. What makes writing behind a computer comfortable for you?
It makes it comfortable for me because I can do it in my PJ's and with no make up! I used to do YouTube videos, and still do on rare occasions, and I always felt like I had to put on make up, do my hair and all that stuff. With blogging no one sees me so it doesn't matter.

5. What's your worst makeup/hair habit?
My worst makeup habit would be that I don't always take my makeup off at night :/ If I'm super tired, I'll just skip it. Worst hair habit, not using a heat protectant when using my flat iron or curling wand.

6. What's one quote that you wish the world would live by?
Honestly, it's just treat everyone the way you want to be treated. If everyone lived by that the world would be so much nicer, I think.

7. How long do you spend getting ready everyday?
If I'm staying home, just long enough to put clothes on and pull my hair back. If I'm going out doing errands, going to church, or delivering Avon, it takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour.

8. Who's your favorite blogger?
Oh that's a tough one, I have so many. I really like Nouveau Cheap. There are so many new blogs that I have been introduced to lately too. You can check out a complete list of blogs I follow here.

9. Who is a blogger that you read, who deserves more subscribers than they have?
Oh goodness, there are so many! Martha at Quick Cheap and Pretty, Jasmine at Green Eyed Monster

10. What's one thing your excited about in the upcoming year?
Doing some more remodeling to our home, hopefully another beach trip.

11. What's your most awkward blogging moment?
I don't really know lol

12. How long does it take you to prep for a post?
Around 45 minutes to an hour taking and editing photos. I like to have all my thoughts wrote down on paper before I begin blogging. I'm a bit of an organizational freak LOL.

13. Are you wearing pants (jeans/skirt) right now or are you actually wearing pajama bottoms or sweat pants?
Jeans. If I had not been out running errands today I would probably be in some sweats.

14. What are you most proud of in your life?
I would have to say getting my GED, 2 college degrees and running a small business for the past 7 years.

Review: Model Co Shine Ultra Lip Gloss

I had never heard of Model Co before I received a tube of their lip gloss in my November Birchbox, in the shade Showgirl Red. The shine ultra lip gloss is a non-sticky formula that glides on super smooth that leaves your lips with a beautiful shine with a hint of color and shimmer. It creates, what Model Co calls, a lacquered effect for the smoothest most delicious lips. It comes in 5 shades; Boogie Nights, Showgirl Red, Sugar Plum, Berry Pink and Strip Tease

I honestly have to say that I love this gloss, it is with out a doubt my new favorite! To me it gives just the right amount of color to my lips and it is

Chic Peek

A while back I found this site on Facebook called Chic Peek, if you have ever heard of JewelMint it's pretty much the same thing. You go to the site, take a quiz and they select a few pieces of jewelry that match your results of your quiz. Each piece cost $30, but could have an actual retail value up to $300! Well on Chic Peek's Facebook page they were giving away Friendship Bracelets to people that liked their page and I got mine in the mail today. I have to say I am very impressed with the quality of the item, a lot of times when companies give some thing away for free like that, it may not be the best thing ever, but I LOVE the bracelet that they sent me! Its made out of black string with three beautiful shades of purple beads. It feels a little heavy and like it is very well made. I also received a $10 credit for my first purchase from their site. luckily it does not have an expiration date, because it may be a while before I get to use it, because like I said before everything on the site cost $30. So for now I will enjoy my freebie :)

Also if you haven't already please take just a minute out of your day to stop by Facebook and 'LIKE' my photo that I have entered into a contest being held by Pure Ice. Currently I am behind by like 20 some votes :( You can also share the link and get your friends to like it too if they have a Facebook account. Thanks :)

Just click on the photo below and once it opens up to Facebook click LIKE

Here is my freebie bracelet!

Please Help Me

Please help me out by going and voting on my photo on Pure Ice's Facebook page :)
They are giving away a set of the Velour Finish Collection to the person that gets the most likes on their photo. I have been looking for these every time I go to Walmart and my Walmart never has them.
You have until 9am Friday to 'Like' it.

NOTW

So lately I have been painting my nails black and adding some type of glitter polish to them. This week I decided I would lighten things up a little and go with a purple nail. I used Sea Witch, by Wet n Wild, as my base color and I topped it with Cheatin by Pure Ice. I really love how it came out. I  have been obsessed with glitter polish the last month or so :)

Here is a swatch of Cheatin. I should have swatched Sea Witch too

Review: Sinfully Magnetic Nail Polish

When I first seen magnetic nail polish popping up in YouTube videos and on blogs I thought, 'That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen, must try!' I've tried two different brands now, with Sinfully Magnetic by Sinful Colors being the most recent. Sinfully Magnetic comes in eight shades and is sold exclusively at Rite Aid and retails for $4.99. I picked up this product  in Captivate me.

The first thing I like about this product is the color of the polish, it is a beautiful plum color with flecks of glitter that are multiple colors. The second thing that I like is the magnet that comes with it, just because the magnet is made in a way that allows you to be able to rest it on your finger with out touching the polish. I have shaky hands so this is great for me.

Wet n Wild Nail Swatches (pic heavy)

Finally getting around to getting better swatches from the Wet n Wild mini set that I picked up from CVS in my Mini Shop and Show, as well as the other two polishes that I picked up from Rite Aid.

I'll start with the swatches of the Wet n Wild mini set. I really wanted to get these up soon because on Black Friday CVS is going to have the set for $2.99 if you have one of their rewards cards!

Here are the bottle shots

Here is a swatch of Ants in my Pants by Spoiled and Gift Wrapped by Julie G

And finally a swatch of the Sinful Colors Sinfully Magnetic in Captivate me, which I am currently working on a review for.

November Birchbox

After all the so so and okay Birchboxes, I decided to cancel my subscription after they had shipped out the November box. Much to  my surprise this box is the best one I've received to date, I have already fell in love with two of the products and I just got my box Saturday!

This month I received Jouer Fragrance Cornucopia and it smells AMAZING! Lulu Organics Lavender + Clary Sage Hair Powder, which is a dry shampoo. Never tried a dry shampoo, so we'll see how it goes. I received a Contrast Eye Pencil by Sumita, which was broken.

October Birchbox Hits and Misses

Octobers box was okay for me, I did find a couple of items that I got a lot of use out of.

Hits

  • Mox Botanicals Lip Butter. This I have used a ton since I got it. It's very moisturizing on your lips and seems to have good staying power. Click HERE for my full review.
  • Mary-Lou Manizer. This I have actually got more use out of it than I thought I would. I love to use it in my inner corners to brightening up my eye looks. And I have also used it when I applyed some eye shadow that actually turned out darker than I wanted it too, I just swept a little over the top of the shadow and it lightened it up. Will do a full review of this soon.
Misses

  • No actually misses this month. I gave the Tea to my husband. I have not got around to using the Quidiad gel. And I have not used the Harvey Prince Flirt fragrance much either.

NOTW

I have been loving all the glitter nail photos that I've been seeing so I used them as inspiration for my Nail of the Week. I used Black Out by Pure Ice, and Party of Five Glitters from Wet n Wild. I wish I had of added another coat of the Party of Five Glitters, but I still really like the look I got.

How did you do your nails this week?
