Welcome to week 14 of the Mish Mash Challenge! This week our theme was Pink and I actually did two nail looks because I did not like the first one all that much, it was a stamping mani. The one I decided to go with is a water marble using Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Bubblegum Pink and Pure Ice Gossip.
Today you also get to see both my hands LOL they each came out so different I wanted to share them both. I think I like my left hand better though :)

Love it! I may have to pick up that Pure Ice Gossip. So hard to find a white that won't bleed all over the place for water marble.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Snow me white is my new favorite white for marbles and stamping, works great for both :) Gossip has been discontinued according to their website :(
DeleteAmy, I'm a newbie at fancy manis. How did you get the swirl look? Did you apply a couple of layers while the previous layer was still wet and then swirl it with a toothpick or tool...or something else?
ReplyDeleteHi Allison. You will need a cup with room temp water and your polish. Basically you drop polish in to your cup of water and it will begin to spread out then you drop your other color(s) in and it will spread out also. You continue doing this until you have a good amount of rings in your cup. Then you take a toothpick and lightly draw a design in your water, wiping the toothpick off frequently. Once you are happy with your design dip your finger in the polish, while your finger is in there you will need to use the toothpick to get all the excess polish out of the cup, once you have done that you can pull your finger out of the cup and Ta Da you have a fancy mani :) I highly recommend applying tape on your skin around the nail so there will not be a ton of clean up afterward. I would be happy to do a tutorial on it if that would help. Just let me know :)
DeleteIf you have time to do a tutorial that would be great, Amy, and I would love to post it to or share it on my blog. I don't really understand the part about using the toothpick to get all the excess polish out of the cup part and the best way to cover my skin with tape, and can you put several fingers in at once etc. It sounds so complicated but it's such a cool technique! :)
ReplyDeleteI can do a tutorial, no problem, I'll post it on Saturday. It does sound complicated, but once you see it done it makes much more sense :) I have done my index, middle and ring finger all at once.
DeleteThanks, Amy! I'll be on the lookout for the tutorial :)
