TIOT: Orly Halleys Comet

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

I have found another favorite nail polish, Halleys Comet from Orly! In my opinion it's one of those rare polishes that looks better on the fingers than it does in the bottle. It has a light translucent teal base full of teeny tiny gold and teal flecks of glitter. It applies like a dream and dries a lot quicker than I thought it would, which is good considering I had to use 3 coats to make it fully opaque, although in the sunlight you can see my  nail line. With all the little flecks of glitter, it is super sparkly and looks amazing out in the sun, I have a short video posted over on my Instagram if you would like to check it out.

Short post, still trying to get over my cold :/ Not sure what posts I will have up this week, I'll let it be a surprise for us all :)

TIOT: Essence Mister Rusty

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Today I have Mister Rusty from Essence for ya. This is a gorgeous copper shade with some gold shimmer, perfect color for fall, and I will most definitely be rocking this color again then! As with all the Essence polishes I've tried, it had great application and a super short dry time. These polishes are the perfect thing for doing your nails if you are in a hurry or even to take on vacation because you don't have to sit around ane wait for them to dry!

I have one Essence polish left that Lizzy sent me to try out, I'm gonna try to get to it in the next few weeks. I have too many unworns and it makes it hard to decide what I want to wear LOL #NailHoarderProblems

I know short post, but I'm off to do some birthday shopping for my hubby ;)
Hope you all are having a great day!

TIOT: Essie Vices Versa

Sponsored | Bought Myself Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

I'll go ahead and put it out there, I'm a little on the fence about Essie's 2014 neon collection *gasps* I know, sorry. I have 4 of the 6 polishes and the shades are amazing and they apply pretty decent, my issue is how fast they chip! I know neons do chip more than regular polishes, but the same day come on now.

I've used two of these, I'm Addicted a super pretty light neon blue, chipped the next day. I tried out Vices Versa next, it chipped the same day I painted them, not super bad chips but still chips. Hoping the other two that I have won't be like that, but we shall see. Still not sure if I will get the other two shades from this collection.

Okay let's get to Vices Versa, it is a super bright neon green! Love the shade, perfect for spring and summer manis. It dries to what I'm going to say is a semi-matte finish, not completely matte, but not really shiny either. It is slightly sheer, I applied 3 coats and you can still see my nail line, not a huge deal to me but I know some don't like that. Application was decent, no real issues, with it being a semi-matte finish it does dry a little faster than regular polish so you have to be careful and not take too much time or else you will start to drag the polish around.

I loved this color on it's on, but I wanted to add a little something to it. I had some 2mm Fluorescent Round Rhinestones from the Born Pretty Store that I thought would go great with this color! The set came with green, pink, orange and blue rhinestones. I decided to use the pink on my ring finger to make an accent nail, I did a simple French Tip type look, mostly because I had house work to do and didn't know how well these would stay on. I have to say I'm quite impressed, I only lost one yesterday and that was because I didn't get it coated well enough with my top coat and I was messing with it. I really like these rhinestones because they are pretty flat, so the won't get snagged over stuff. These come 400 pieces to a set for $3.12, free shipping and you can save 10% with the following code: SMBW10

I am trying so hard to get my unworns whittled down, but honestly we all know that is a never ending task because I can't stop buying new polishes LOL If any thing in there catches your eye and you want to see it let me know and I'll test them out first ;)

Alright that's all for today! Hope you all have a great day, we are expecting some storms over the next few days, hopefully nothing severe!

TIOT: Avon Platinum

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

I love the polishes from Avon's Brushed Metals line, they are a textured polish with a ton of sparkle! Today I have Platinum from that line, a gorgeous light blue. These polishes to dry pretty quickly so you can't spend a lot of time on the coats, I find it's better to do 2 quick coats, everything gets evened out that way.

One thing I really like about this line is even though it's a textured polish it's not super textured. You can feel that it's not smooth, but at the same time it does not feel rough. It looks rougher than it feels, does that make sense? The other thing I like so much is like I mentioned above it has so much sparkle to it.

I do like to add my NYC quick drying top coat over it just to make it even shiner.

Clean up, as you can see, does leave little bits of 'glitter' on you, but after showering or washing your hands a couple of times it goes away. I just love it LOL

Pink Ice: Chocolate Chip

A couple weeks ago I went in to Rue21 to check out their nail polish and came out with two. Today I want to share with you Chocolate Chip! A pastel Green with matte bright colored glitters.

This is a great polish for spring and summer, it's just such a fun looking polish! When I put the first coat down I was like oh no this is not what I thought it was, but it worked out. I had to apply 3 coats to get the polish to a good opaque finish. Luckily the polish dries fairly quickly, I was happy with that!

These Pink Ice polishes retail for $3.99, but I guess sometimes they have them on sale 2 for $5, that's what I got mine for.

I think they are a good quality nail polish, I wore this mani for about 4 days with no chips and just minimal tip wear. I really didn't want to take this off, it's so pretty to look at! It was a little bit of a pain to remove, but what glitter polish is not?

In other news, I have no clue what kind of posts I will have for the rest of the week. I have not had time to sit down and plan anything out :/

Hope you all are having a fantastic Tuesday!

TIOT: China Glaze Running in Circles

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

I was going through my nail photos on my computer and uploading some of them to my Facebook page and I came across China Glaze Running in Circles. I could have swore I already posted the photo of this polish but I searched my blog and could not find it, so I'm gonna share it with you today. As I'm typing this I'm still saying to myself, I know I posted this LOL

Running in Circles is from the Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away Collection and is a gorgeous shimmer filled green! Best I can remember I used 2 coats in the photo below.

How gorgeous is that? You can still see my nail line while out in the sun, maybe a third coat would have fixed that, but I still really love this color.

Really don't know how I manged to skip over this and not get it posted :/ My Mom would say I was showing my age LOL

Next Tuesday I will have Pink Ice's Chocolate Chip for my TIOT, it's a fun little polish I picked up at Rue21

What are you wearing on your nails today?

TIOT: Mint Chip

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

Today I have super short Try it on Tuesday featuring Mint Chip, one of the polishes from Sally Girl March Ice Cream Shoppe Collection.

Overall I was not very impressed with this polish. For starters I could not get the polish mixed together properly, you could see where it was starting to separate, you know the way polishes do if they set to long. I shook it, I rolled it between my hands and could not get it to mix to save my life, so I just used it as it was. It was a little thick and goopy and it was streaky. I had to use three coats to get it evened out. I also feel that this comes off more blue than mint.

I purchased the other 3 polishes in this collection, I hope the formula is better on them :/

Today is the last day to enter my Reader Appreciation/3 Year Blogiversary Giveaway, so if you haven't done so head on over. I'll be announcing the winner on Thursday :)

TIOT: Pure Ice Twinkle

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

A quick Try It On Tuesday post today featuring Twinkle from Pure Ice. This is a polish that I seen swatched on another blog and I loved the way it looked so I set out on a search for it! It only took me like 3 months to find it LOL

Twinkle is a lovely peachy coral shade with gold shimmer, perfect for summer. As gorgeous as this shade is in my photo, I did have some issues. I'm not 100% sure if the issues were with Twinkle it's self or if it was because of the matte top coat I added to the top, which you can't even tell that I did that.

For me the formula seems to be a touch thicker than the other Pure Ice polishes I have used. Although I may have gotten a bottle that someone used to paint their nails in the store then put it back on the shelf, Yes that really happened. Hubby and I were in Walmart and I dragged him to the polish aisle with me and there was a teenager and I'm assuming her mother painting their nails then put the polishes back on the shelf. If you are someone that does that, please don't, when I buy polish from a store I expect it to be NEW not used.

Okay, I'll get off my soap box now. As you can hopefully see in my photos, I ended up with some air bubbles. I did have to apply 3 coats of this to get it to the opacity I wanted, so I don't know if that's what caused it or if it was in fact the NYC matte top coat.

I really want to say it was the top coat because I just swatched it on my nail wheel and it came out fine. May have to put this back in the Unworn basket and give it another try.

Hope you all are having a fabulous day and be sure to come back tomorrow for something really special!

TIOT: Ruby Without a Cause & Ruby Rhinestones

For today's Try it on Tuesday I'm doing another combination look using Ruby Without a Cause from Sephora by OPI and Ruby Rhinestones from Maybelline Color Show.

Ruby Without a Cause had a fantastic formula, I only needed one coat for it to be fully opaque! Application was smooth and it had a fairly quick dry time. I wasn't sure what color was going to end up on my nails just by looking at the bottle, because you could see some green and silver. On my nails it all showed up as a nice burgundy color, but I felt that it needed a little something else so I added just a little bit of Ruby Rhinestones.

Ruby Rhinestones has a translucent

TIOT: Revlon Rain Forest

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

Keeping with the St. Patrick's Day theme from yesterday's post, I have another green polish for today's Try it on Tuesday!

This is Rain Forest from Revlon Color Stay. This was another one of the polishes I found at Big Lot's. Only paid $1.50 for it and seen it at Walmart a few days later for $4.97

Application of this was very nice. First coat is sorta on the sheer side so I added a slightly thicker second coat. I should have just added 2 more thin coats, because the thicker on made it take much longer than it should have to dry. Hence the messed up tips and some dings.

I really like this color, deep green with lots of shimmer, which my camera did not do any justice to. Looks so stunning in the sun, so shimmery!

For next Tuesday I am planning on showing Ruby Without a Cause from Sephora by OPI

Do you like to use deep greens like Rain Forest on your nails?

TIOT: China Glaze Grape Juice & Nail Mail

Happy Tuesday Y'all! Today I have Grape Juice from China Glaze as my Try it on Tuesday.

Grape Juice is a beautiful medium toned purple with lots of silver shimmer. The formula on this polish was just okay for me. I did have some drying issues, which could have been my fault for applying too thick of a layer. I did end up smudging my middle finger something awful and roughed up some of the other tips before I even got a photo of the polish, so please excuse my mess.

I still really like this polish though, it almost looks like a jelly polish. I will know for next time to do thin coats, lots of them, lesson learned LOL

Yay for nail mail! The fabulous Lizzy from Lizzy's Place sent me this great package of nail polish and some nail decals! A few weeks ago she had mentioned on her blog about the Sephora by OPI It's Real 18K top coat coming to Big Lots, but she could not find it at her store. Lucky for both of us I was planning on going to Big Lots around that time and found a bottle for us both and she was kind enough to send some me some Essence polishes because I can't find them in my area and it's a brand I've never tried before. Thanks again Lizzy :)

All these colors are so pretty! I swatched them on a nail wheel and was shocked by how fast they dried! Oh and the red one is a sparkle sand effect finish!!

I have no clue what I'll have for y'all next Tuesday, so I'll just have to leave you wondering ;)

TIOT: Zoya Happi

I got my TIOT posts out of order, was supposed to have posted this a couple weeks ago, oops. So today I am bringing you the last polish I got from that amazing Zoya deal earlier this year, Happi, and it's a beauty! It's a medium tone pink with hints of gold, so pretty!!

Just look at that hint of gold!

The application of the polish was great! I did have to use 3 coats to get it to the opacity that I wanted and even with the 3 coats I can still see my nail line. I think I will be using this a lot on my toes this spring.

I have my TIOT posts jotted down all the way till the middle of June! Hopefully I'll keep them in order, but knowing me I'll make little changes here and there LOL. I can tell you that next weeks TIOT will be I Only Shop Vintage from Sephora by OPI.

TIOT: Zara

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

Back in the beginning of January I made a purchase from Zoya, they were having an awesome sale 3 polishes for $12, who can pass that up! One of the polishes I purchased was Zara, a beautiful shade of purple full of gold shimmer. Zara is one of those rare polishes that looks just as gorgeous on the nails as it does in the bottle, if not better.

The formula on this polish was great, no visible brush strokes or balding of the polish. It was pretty much opaque with 2 coats, but I went ahead and use 3 coats. The first coat dried pretty fast, each additional coat took a lot longer, but was so worth the wait!

OMG how gorgeous is Zara? Love it!
Next Tuesday I will be trying on Happi also from Zoya!

TIOT: Finger Paints Dolled Up

Today I am trying on another polish from the Finger Paints Vintage Glam Collection, Dolled Up. I usually do not like the way blue polishes look on me, but I love this polish.

I would say it's more of a tealish blue and not a true blue and has a nice metallic finish. My camera did pick up just a few little brush strokes, which I didn't really notice on my nails until I seen the photos. As with most metallic polishes it does enhance the flaws in the nails, like the peeling issue I'm having with my index fingernail. Application was very smooth, I applied 3 coats and it dried in about 10 minutes. I wore this for about 4 days and only had minimal tip wear.

How gorgeous is this color! I found myself looking at my nails a lot when I wore this. First photo was taken in the sunlight and the second one was in the shade.
