Empties: October 2013

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

I had a few empties for October:

Pure Silk Cherry Blossom shaving cream, it was fine nothing special. I would repurchase this, but I prefer Skintimate.

ONYX Acetone polish remover. Love this stuff already repurchased a large bottle :)

Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves. I like this stuff but the smell can be overwhelming to begin with, plus I can't find it in my area so I probably will now repurchase. I've had this tube since December 2012!

Aussie Aussomely Clean 2in1 shampoo. I really like this shampoo, this is the 2nd or 3rd bottle I've had of it. Have not repurchased yet, because I am making myself use all the other shampoos and conditioners I have before I buy any new ones. Discipline LOL

I also used up another bottle of my favorite top coat from NYC and a base coat from Sally Hansen. Have already repurchased the NYC top coat, not sure if I will repurchase the base coat, nothing really special about it. With both of these I was not able to use every singe drop, as they both got thick and goopy.

What products did you use up in October?

I will not have a favorites post for October, I've pretty much been using the same things for the past few months, so there is nothing new :)

Tutorial: Water Marble

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

Today's post is a bit different than any other post I have done, it's a video tutorial on how I do my water marble manicures. I hope that you will find this video helpful :)

So let's get into how I do my water marble by watching this video. I will also add some tips below the video that I may not have covered in it.

Instead of using tape you can put Vaseline around your fingers and all you have to do is wipe the Vaseline away with a tissue or cotton ball and any polish that may have gotten on it will wipe right away. I do not use the Vaseline method because I feel it is too messy.

Not all polishes will work for a water marble, some polishes will not spread out across the water. Once you find a polish that works well make a note of it so you will know the ones that will work for sure.

Water marbling for me was a lot of trial and error, the first time I did it I thought it looked horrible. The more you do it the better you will get, so don't give up :)

Allow your polish to dry fully before you put on your top coat or else your design may smear.

It is a messy and tedious process, but so worth it. It usually takes me about an hour to do a water marble on myself.

Sometimes when you go to draw you lines with the toothpick all the polish may stick to the toothpick and mess up the work you had done, if this happens just finish getting the polish out of the cup and start again.

I have found that tap water does not work well for me when doing marbles, so I stick to bottled water.

Sometimes I will also paint my nails one of the colors that I am using before I start my marble, but not always. I feel like this is a personal choice depending on who you ask :)

Most importantly, just have fun with it!

I hope that this was helpful and if you have never done a marble before and decide to try one after watching this I would love to see it! You can post a link to it in the comments, email it to me or post it on my Facebook page. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments too, and I'll do my best to answer them the best I can.

Mish Mash Challenge Week 14: Pink

Welcome to week 14 of the Mish Mash Challenge! This week our theme was Pink and I actually did two nail looks because I did not like the first one all that much, it was a stamping mani. The one I decided to go with is a water marble using Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Bubblegum Pink and Pure Ice Gossip.

Today you also get to see both my hands LOL they each came out so different I wanted to share them both. I think I like my left hand better though :)

Try it on Tuesday: OPI Not Like the Movies

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

I hope I will not be stepping on anyone's toes by doing a Try it on Tuesday, as I know a lot of nail bloggers have TIOT. I have around 85 untried polishes in my collection and I thought this would be the perfect way to get them all tried out! With that said lets get in to the first TIOT!

Last week I went in to a TJ Maxx for the first time and ran across a couple of OPI Polishes from the Katy Perry Collection packaged together for $7.99, could not pass that up! One of the colors the pack contained was Not Like the Movies. NLTM is a beautiful silver/grey duo chrome with tiny flecks of silver shimmer. When I first got it home and swatched it I thought this looks a lot like Grey's Anatomy from Wet n Wild, so I went and grabbed that from my stash and swatched it beside NLTM, not a dupe at all, not even close LOL

I really like Not Like the Movies, application and dry time were great. The duo chrome was beautiful and the little flecks of silver just set the polish off. I do wish I had applied 3 coats instead of 2 because my nail line was still visible.

Next Tuesday I will be back with the other polish that came in this set!
