Pure Ice: Deja Vu

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Y'all know I love inexpensive polishes and one of the best brands I have found is Pure Ice. They have a wide variety of colors and for under $2 you can not go wrong! I was lucky enough to get three PR Samples of Pure Ice First Love, Deja Vu and Jack Pot.

Deja Vu is my favorite from the three, it is a gorgeous blue/purple, duochromy glittery goodness! On the nails it shows up a very vibrant royal blue, with a hint of purple and so full of glitter.

Is that not gorgeous?!?!?!? Wear time on this has been pretty good too, it would have been even better if I had took the time to wrap my nails. In all the swatches above I applied 2 coats which made the polish very opaque. Application was a breeze, went on very smoothly and dried rather quickly, by the time I was done with my second hand, my first hand was ready for it's second coat.

I do have to say this polish is even prettier in person, so if you can find it, grab it, you will not regret it! It's so pretty I just can't stop looking at my nails!

Orchid Funky Monkey

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

I'm back with Orchid's Funky Monkey! I'm kinda on the fence with this one, it's a really pretty color; sheer light brown base with redish/orange/brown glitter. It goes on smoothly and dries in a decent amount of time, but oh is it sheer! In the swatches below I applied 3 medium-ish coats and you can still see my nail, not just the nail line, but the whole nail.

In the next photo I put a coat of Funky Monkey over Avon's Mudslide, a medium dark muddy looking brown cream polish. I like the effect that Funky Monkey gave to Mudslide, make it look like a completely different polish.

So in my opinion a good polish for the most part, just super sheer and will most likely be layered over another polish any time I use it. I'm wondering if their cream polishes would be any better. I've looked for Orchid online in the form of a Google search and also looked for it on Amazon, but there is little to be found.

Friday I hope to be back with 2 more untried polishes to show y'all!

Broadway Nails Ultra Violet

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

I missed my Monday posting this week, oops, it was my day off and I spent it running errands and cleaning house. So I'm here with a Tuesday post! Today I'm showing y'all a new to me nail polish, I spotted these at work and I had to give them a try, it's Broadway Nails Gel Strong in Ultra Violet. I think this color could have been named something else because it is definitely not ultra violet, more like Loving Lilac or something to that effect.

Fairly inexpensive polish, $2, went on smoothly, but dried super slow. I should have used 3 coats, but after sitting and waiting about 20 minutes for the first two coats to dry, I was over it. The color is very pretty, as I mentioned above it is a lilac color with pinkish/gold shimmer.

Today I'll see how well it holds up when I go into work, I'll update on Friday!

Hope you all have a great day!

Color Club Bell Bottom Babe

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Hi Y'all! So I've missed a few days of blogging, I've been working 5 days a week and I had Monday off so I left straight from work Sunday night and drove 2 hours to spend Monday with my family then drove back home that afternoon and headed back to work on Tuesday! I'm off today though and I want to share a new polish with you!

Towards the end of last month Lizzy, from Lizzy's Place, blogged about Color Club's Bell Bottom Babe and when I seen it, I had to have it and I was able to find it on Amazon. It has to be one of the prettiest polishes I've seen in a while. It is a shade of blue with a ton of pink/fuchsia/magenta iridescent shimmer!

Please do not pay attention to my cuticles, work has been rough on them LOL.

Isn't she just gorgeous?!?!?!?! Both swatches are 3 coats of Bell Bottom Babe with no undies, I could have probably gotten away with 2 coats, but 3 looks a lot better. Bell Bottom Babe is from the Poptastic Collection.

Friday I plan on being back with a China Glaze polish, not sure which one as I've ordered 5 from Amazon and 3 of them have already arrived. I'm thinking possibly Flirty Tankini ;)

Orly Mirrorball

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Today I have a very short post on Mirrorball from Orly, a stunning silver/gray holographic polish with little bits of holographic glitter! In my swatch below I applied three coats to get it to an opacity that I was happy with, this polish has a great formula and dried quickly so three coats was not a huge deal.

I do however wish that the sun would have been more cooperative with me so I could have captured all the holographic goodness, but it just did not want to show it's self during the times it was convenient for me to take photos, so all the photos were took inside in front of a window.

Wear time on this was okay, I applied it on Wednesday and had a few chips by Friday, not huge chips but still chips LOL I still really like it though, it's just too pretty not to like!

I hope you all had a great weekend and I'll see you again on Wednesday, not sure what I'll have up yet.

Maybelline Color Show Lasting Lilac

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Today's polish comes from the Maybelline limited edition Vintage Leather Collection, it is Lasting Lilac. I'm not really sure why they wanted to call this line Vintage Leather, to me it's just polish with a matte finish and some metallic looking shards.

Lasting Lilac is slightly sheer, and the first coat was rather streaky, I ended up using three coats to get the opacity to a state I was happy with. I love the shade of this color, it's not lilac at all, but more like a grapey purple. It looked okay matte, but I wanted something shiny so I did add a glossy top coat to it. Obviously since it is a matte finish it did try super quick.

I like this polish for it's super quick dry time and the color, I don't know that I would ever wear it matte, to me I think it looks better shiny. I found this at the Dollar Tree so for $1 can't really say anything bad about it!

Tomorrow I'll be back with Ring the Belini from Sinful Colors Citrus Twist Collection.

Julep Marion

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Hello everyone, hope you all are staying safe and warm! We had another round of snow yesterday that brought us around 3 inches and we are expecting yet another round tonight into tomorrow that is said to bring us anywhere from 2-8 inches. I've heard so many conflicting reports of what we are supposed to get, so I guess I'll just figure it out for myself once the storm is over :/

In polish news....... I want to share with you my first ever Julep polish, Marion. I found her at TJ Maxx sometime last year and finally got around to trying her out. Marion is a gorgeous teal green color with some shimmer, has a great formula as well, in my swatches I only applied one coat, yep just one! It dried really fast to which we all know is a huge plus. The only thing that I didn't like about it, is that it stained my nails. I'm not going to place all the blame on Marion just yet, because I'm still trying out  my home made peel off base and that may be to blame for the staining. I'll try Marion out again at some point using a regular base and see how that goes.

Isn't she gorgeous?! I do wish that the sun would have been out better to help capture the nice shimmer that is in this polish. I wanted to set it off a little more so I did end up adding Salon Perfect Cosmic Dust on top. Of course I was not able to capture all the glittery goodness of that polish since the sun was not out. I can say for sure though that Cosmic Dust is an exact dupe for China Glaze Fairy Dust!

And last but not least in Technology news...... I finally have a new computer!!!! YAY!! I was originally looking for an All-in-One, but my computer savvy friend cautioned me to stay away from them, and after doing some research of my own on them I did come to the conclusion to stick with a tower CPU. I ended up getting a Dell Inspiron 3847, it has all the bells and whistles I was looking for in a computer with the exception of a webcam, but I can buy one to go on it or just keep using my iPhone when I Skype family. But now I can finally get back to blogging and not have to worry about it crashing while I'm working and not have to worry about it working at a snails pace LOL.

It is taking me a little getting used to, I've been using the same computer with Windows XP on it for the last 10 years!

Out with the old:

And in with the new:

Since I'll be snowed in for the next couple of days, I'll have time to learn how to work Windows 8.1 Hopefully LOL

Don't Let The Dead Bite

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today I am wearing a very Valentine-sy looking nail polish with a not so Valentine-sy name, Don't Let The Dead Bite from China Glaze, this polish was from their 2014 Halloween Apocalypse of Color Collection. I snagged this up last weekend for $1.75 when Sally Beauty was having an extra 50% off their clearance merchandise sale!

Don't Let The Dead Bite has a nude pink jelly base with pink and red glitters. In my swatches I applied 3 coats, each coat dried really fast, I'm talking by the time I finished my right hand my left hand was dry and ready for the next coat! In my first coat my glitters were a little sparse, but with each layer I applied I was able to build them up. This polish reminds me a lot of It's a Trap-Eze from China Glaze's Cirque du Soleil: World's Away Collection, jelly base chocked full of glitter!

I also tried making my own peel off base to use with glitter polishes like this one. So far I've had no issues with it trying to peel off so that's a good thing. I'll discuss it more in another post after I've had more time to try it out and see if it going to be something worth passing on ;)

I hope you all have a great Valentine's Day and rest of the weekend!

Back In My Gloria Days

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Back in my Gloria Days is from the Modern Family Collection that Nicole by OPI put out. I found this little gem at TJ Maxx quite a while back for $2! I really don't know why I have not used it sooner, it is absolutely gorgeous! Love the shade of purple, but in the light you can catch hints of blue and sometimes some pink! I used 3 coats and it dried fairly quickly.

I also removed my acrylic and tips and just reapplied some acrylic to my natural nails to make them a stronger since they have grown out some since having the tips on. The acrylic is a lifesaver for my nails, I don't have to worry about them peeling on me now!

Hope you all have a great rest of the week! I will be out of town till Sunday unless I get trapped away from home because of snow, which according to some weather reports, it's a very likely thing that I might :/

Sweet Irish Creme

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

Today I want to show y'all Sweet Irish Creme from The Little LacquerBean. The pictures are not the best in the world and there is a funny story that goes along with that. So I see seen this polish on Instagram and decided to snag it when TLLB had her Black Friday sale, it was 50% off!! It is honestly the most beautiful nude polish I own, it has a scattered holographic effect to it and just looks amazeballs in the sunlight. I could not wait to try it on but I knew I had to wait for a sunny today to show off the full effect, well I get my sunny day and as soon as I get my nails painted and get ready to head outside for photos it just clouds up on me. I have worn this a couple of times and each time it gets cloudy when I go to take my photos!! I did manage to get one slightly sunny shot one day, but it's so funny that it always gets cloudy!

The first shot is the one that I got when it was slightly sunny, the second and third shots were inside with my phones flashlight on. It still looks pretty, but man in person in the sunlight @-@ WOW!

The Little LacquerBean also has nail vinyls and several other gorgeous polishes so stop by and check out her store! When I get the money I really want to get Frosty Balls, Goldfish in a Bag and Tractor Pulling.

Tomorrow I'll be back with Back in My Gloria Days!

TIOT: Orly Halleys Comet

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings | Gifted

I have found another favorite nail polish, Halleys Comet from Orly! In my opinion it's one of those rare polishes that looks better on the fingers than it does in the bottle. It has a light translucent teal base full of teeny tiny gold and teal flecks of glitter. It applies like a dream and dries a lot quicker than I thought it would, which is good considering I had to use 3 coats to make it fully opaque, although in the sunlight you can see my  nail line. With all the little flecks of glitter, it is super sparkly and looks amazing out in the sun, I have a short video posted over on my Instagram if you would like to check it out.

Short post, still trying to get over my cold :/ Not sure what posts I will have up this week, I'll let it be a surprise for us all :)

Pure Ice Happy Hour

I'm finally back, did ya miss me? My allergies turned in to a cold that my hubby decided he would share with me, over the cold but the allergies are holding on.

Anywho today I wanted to share Happy Hour from Pure Ice with y'all! It's a gorgeous coral cream, that applied really nicely. Not sure about the dry time, it's been well over a week since I used this :/ I will have to say the wear time has been great, I just started getting chips, usually polish will chip on me much sooner, so very happy with that aspect of it.

I liked Happy Hour on it's own, but as usual, I  felt the need for a little bling, so I topped it off with ELF's Fairy Dust. It's been said that Fairy Dust is a dupe for Essie's Shine of the Times! I should do a comparison since I have them both.

I do have another photo up on Instagram of this nail look if you want to check that out :)

Thank you to everyone that left a comment wishing me well :)

I hope you all have been doing well and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Tomorrow I will have a textured polish from Avon to share!

TIOT: Mint Chip

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

Today I have super short Try it on Tuesday featuring Mint Chip, one of the polishes from Sally Girl March Ice Cream Shoppe Collection.

Overall I was not very impressed with this polish. For starters I could not get the polish mixed together properly, you could see where it was starting to separate, you know the way polishes do if they set to long. I shook it, I rolled it between my hands and could not get it to mix to save my life, so I just used it as it was. It was a little thick and goopy and it was streaky. I had to use three coats to get it evened out. I also feel that this comes off more blue than mint.

I purchased the other 3 polishes in this collection, I hope the formula is better on them :/

Today is the last day to enter my Reader Appreciation/3 Year Blogiversary Giveaway, so if you haven't done so head on over. I'll be announcing the winner on Thursday :)

TIOT: Spoiled Let's Get Sushi

Sponsored | Bought Myself | Press Sample | Nothing to Disclose | Giveaway Winnings

Today I am trying on Let's Get Sushi from Spoiled. I really love the way this polish looks in the bottle, a nice coral color with a bit of a shimmer/sheen. It does not look anything like that on my nails, it comes off as a bright orangey (is that a word LOL) cream, I don't see any shimmer at all. I really don't think I'll wear this polish again, I may use it as a stamping polish or something, but as a polish on it's own I don't think so.

These pictures do not give the accurate color, they are much more bright orange looking in person.

Application was not the greatest thing either. The first coat left me with streaky, brush marked polish, but the second coat did even that out. Drying time was average about 5-10 minutes, depending on how thick of a coat you applied. Wear time was pretty decent too, I got a good 3 days out of it before I started noticing a lot of tip wear. I didn't have any issues with it chipping either.

Don't you just hate when you see a bottle of polish at the store and think to yourself, now there is a pretty polish, then get it home, try it on and it's nothing like what you thought it would be? Glad this was only $1.99
