Nail Art Inspiration Via a Challenge

Lately I have had no inspiration for nail art, so I thought I would make my own little Nail Art Challenge for when I needed an idea for nail art. I searched through past nail art challenges and pulled some themes and ideas and compiled them in to one really long list! If you would like to play along too feel free to do so. This is not a weekly challenge so don't feel pressured to post every week (unless you just want too), just when you are looking for some inspiration. Also no need to go in order, just do what sticks out to you. I started with Number 16 so keep scrolling ;)

Today I get to mark off number 16 Water Marble. I am not 100% happy with this because I got a couple of dings and a air bubble, but the parts that didn't get dinged look pretty good and I spent way to much time on it not to share LOL

I used two polishes that I recently won from Heather over at  Crazy Beautiful Makeup. I tried some other colors that I wanted to use but they just would not work for me, but these two worked amazingly and how cute is that packaging!

I usually pull from the outside of my polish ring to the inside, but after watching some videos on YouTube I tried pulling from the inside out and created a spider web like effect. I never knew there were so many other techniques to water marbling!

Review: L'Oreal Frost and Design Caramel Highlights

For the longest time I have wanted to get my hair to a much lighter shade, I'd had enough of the dark brown. I have tried to dye it a lighter shade and it came out a brassy orange, not the look I was going for, and ever since then I'd gave up on getting it lighter.  Then over the summer my sister was telling me about the highlighting kit that she uses on her dark brown hair I loved the way her hair looked so I thought I'd give the kit a try!

The kit is L'Oreal's Frost and Design Highlights, I got mine in the shade Caramel since it was my first time having this done I didn't want it to be overly dramatic. The kit is around $12 at Walmart, you can also get it from CVS for a little more. The kit contains a highlighting cap, metal hook, gloves, lightening powder, creme developer, plastic mixer, plastic overcap, frosting protective creme, shampoo, toning rinse and of course your directions.

Since my sister has done this to her hair several times before she said she would do mine too. I was really excited to do it, but also really nervous because I didn't know exactly how it was going to turn out. First thing she did was put the cap on my head snugly and began pulling hair through the holes in the cap. Once she got all the strands pulled through, she mixed up the lightening powder, creme developer and the frosting protective cream and put that all over the strands of hair that had been pulled through the cap. Once all that was on she took the plastic overcap and put that over my hair and clipped it so it was secure, all that was left to do was sit and wait.

The directions say for medium to dark brown hair the minimum time is 35 minutes and the maximum time was around 60 or 65, as best I can remember. I only left it on for 35 minutes because it was starting to look really, really blonde and I got a little nervous so I was like this is long enough. Next thing we did was washed my hair with the provided shampoo and then removed the cap and patted my hair dry with a towel. The last step of the process was adding the toning rinse. After applying the toning rinse my hair was no where near as blonde as it was when we first took the cap off.

I am totally happy and excited about my results! It did take me a few days to get used to it, because I am so used to all my dark hair and now all of a sudden I have blonde hair!

I did buy some Brass Banisher just in case. I have a lot of reddish tones to my hair and was afraid it would turn orange, but it didn't and I was able to return the product.

Some tips: You can do this process by yourself, but I would recommend either getting someone to do it for you or lend you a hand. I also recommend having some deep conditioner on hand when you do this, because it does make your hair somewhat dry.

I highly recommend this product if you want to change your hair up with out having to go to the salon.

This is something I will do again for sure and I'll probably leave it on my hair for a little longer next time.
